My name is Colin Sills and this is colindoesthings, where I do things.

My most successful creative works have been in making music under my aliases Falsely Familiar and Elcaset Futures. I make music that can be categorized as Synthwave or Vaporwave although I like to generally categorize it all as ‘Electronica’. Under Elcaset Futures I really dial in on a specific style that is related to Vaporwave, although different (as it doesn’t have any broader things to say about society or corporations and their effects on culture), called Midi-wave or as the artists Sonavision Deluxe and Komit have named ‘Twilight Synth’. I like to evoke the feelings, sounds and textures of old, crappy at the time, cheap synth music made either as an afterthought as background music for a company training tape or as music meant to aid in meditation. I really enjoy the organic yet artificial textures 80s-2000s synth music had.

I also wish to be a writer, however this may change (hopefully not as I’m going to college for English). Either way if I remember this website exists I will be posting a myriad of writings, ramblings, and nonsense on this website so that I can establish a portfolio of my work and to air out my thought processes so that they aren’t stuck in my head all the time. I plan on writing fiction (horror, sci-fi, speculative fiction, fantasy), and general non-fiction pieces about things I can’t stop thinking about or I think are important.

I will also be posting my photography (I do not claim to be a savant or any kind of good camera operator, I just like taking pictures of stuff I think is cool). You can find many of my older photos on my Instagram.
